Tongoro Celebrates 9 Years With Exuberant Monochrome Collection

African luxury label Tongoro, founded by visionary designer Sarah Diouf, continues to redefine contemporary style with bold cultural influence and modern ease. Since its launch in 2016, the Dakar-based brand has become a global name, worn by icons such as Beyoncé, Naomi Campbell, and Alicia Keys.

Known for its flowing silhouettes, oversized cuts, and monochromatic palette inspired by legendary African photographers of the 1960s, Tongoro has carved a unique identity that balances grace, movement, and African heritage. The brand champions the “Made in Africa” label, blending tradition with innovative design to create pieces that resonate globally.

Now celebrating its ninth anniversary, Tongoro presents a collection inspired by the timeless black-and-white imagery of Seydou Keïta, Malick Sidibé, and Okhai Ojeikere. Featuring voluminous dresses, kaftan-inspired cuts, and bold statement pieces, the line revisits the roots of African elegance while pushing the brand’s aesthetic forward.

As Tongoro looks ahead to its tenth year, Diouf remains focused on scaling the brand for international markets while preserving the ethical and sustainable practices at its core. With each collection, Tongoro strengthens its position as a leading force in African fashion — a label that celebrates heritage, empowers artisans, and continues to shape the global conversation around African luxury.
